The author handled the spiritual aspect of the story beautifully. Everett and Julia's motivations were clear, and I cheered when they reached their goals (very romantic goals). I thoroughly loved the way the story was written as well as the story itself. She steered clear of overused phrases, and I appreciated the freshness.
One of the things I enjoyed most is the author's writing style. The reader will become familiar with farm/prairie life and understand how difficult that life was without being bogged down with long descriptions or boring details. The story reminded me a bit of Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke which is a compliment! He struggles with worrying over whether Julia will abandon him like all the other women did. She fears being used because of her pretty looks and desires to be Everett's work partner, really, more than a wife. This is a marriage of convenience story about a mail-order bride with a past that has hardened her heart against love. Overall, A Bride For Keeps is a sweet romance.On a scale of one to ten, the romance in this novel is a 10. The first few chapters were a little slow, but the pacing picks up once Julia arrives. It will take a miracle for the both of them to fall in love.ĭespite a clichéd plot, A Bride For Keeps is a surprisingly emotional romance that plays more like a Hallmark movie (the good kind).

I liked the book cover to A Bride For Keeps, so I signed up to review it, but little did I realize it involved a mail-order bride plot.
I sometimes make my book decisions by either the author's name or the cover of the book. I have read several titles over the last few years with a mail-order bride plot, so I wasn't looking forward to reading another one. It looks I'm finally catching up on a few book reviews.
